‘Tree man’ undergoes another ‘successful’ surgery

Dhaka: ‘Tree Man’ Abul Bajandar, who was admitted into Dhaka Medical College Hospital with a rare skin disease, underwent another surgery on his left hand on Saturday, one month into a successful surgery on the right hand.
Burn and Plastic Surgery department chairman M Abul Kalam said a nine-member medical team led by him conducted the operation on all his five fingers of the left hand separately without any complications.
M Abul Kalam said his condition is now better than before and he is completely well.
Another similar operation will be performed on other parts of his body three weeks after the second surgery, he said.
Abul Kalam hoped that the wart-like lesions growing on his hands and feet will be removed completely through these kinds of operations gradually.
Chief Coordinator of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr Samanta Lal Sen was present, among others, during the operation.
On February 20, Bajandar underwent a successful surgery on all five fingers of his right hand. Later, the doctors completed the dressing of his hand three times effectively.
Dubbed as a Tree Man because of wart-like lesions growing on his hands and feet, Abul Bajandar is the 3rd such patient in the world to be suffering from a rare Dermo Epidermal Dysplasia disease for the last 15 years.
