Prito Reza is considered as the pioneer in the modern wedding photography industry of Bangladesh.

On 23 December, Wedding and Portrait Photographers of Bangladesh (WPPB) arranged an event titled ‘Celebrating 10 Years of Wedding Photography by Prito Reza’ at Dhanmondi’s EMK Centre in the capital to revel the ace photographer Prito Reza’s contribution to the field of wedding photography in the country, as well as around the world.

Veteran portrait photographer Nasir Ali Mamun, wildlife photographer Kudrat E Khuda, writer Anisul Hoque, photojournalist Kamruzzaman, actor Sumon Patwary, and actress Kumkum Hasan were present, among others, at the event.

Besides, Test captain of Bangladesh cricket team Mushfiqur Rahim, journalists Munni Saha and Anik khan sent their video greetings to Prito Reza.

Nasir Ali Mamun, the pathfinder of portrait photography in Bangladesh, said: ‘I wouldn’t know where the standard of wedding photography in Bangladesh has reached, if I hadn’t seen Prito Reza’s photographs. He has made wedding photography an art.’

WPPB secretary general Sajib Paul said, ‘We are happy to honour Prito Reza. We wanted to inform the younger generation in the industry about their predecessors.’

 ‘Marriage is special kind of relationship which will survive for long through the photographs of Prito Reza’, said Anisul Hoque.

It was Prito Reza, full name Md. Zahid Reza, who started the modern trend of wedding photography in Bangladesh.

Starting from zero, his brainchild Wedding Diary is now a renowned name worldwide.

Under the banner of ‘Wedding Diary’, Prito Reza extended his journey in Australia, America, India, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. He completed his graduation in photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute of Photography. The very first wedding exhibition in Bangladesh was an initiative by Prito Reza and his team.

Prito Reza is working as the Brand Ambassador of Fujifilm. The first and only photography show in Bangladesh ‘Darkroom’, a TV show is conducted and conceptualised by Prito Reza. Anybody, from any part of the country may participate in this live show and ask any queries about photography.

He started his career as a freelance photographer in national dailies and news agencies. Among which Ittefaq, New Age, The Daily Star, DrikNEWS, Ajker Kagoj and Bhorer Kagoj were the prominent ones. He was also involved with a number of magazines of ICE Media Limited as a Photo Editor.

Prito Reza is the first photographer from Bangladesh to achieve a Professional Fellowship from US Department of State and an Alumni of Oklahoma University Fellowship Programme. Prito Reza is the first Bangladeshi speaker at Wedding and Portrait Photographer of Asia Annual Conference. He received the Mirror Business Award for Best Wedding Photographer in the year 2011-2012.

He is the founder president of Wedding and Portrait Photographers of Bangladesh. Prito Reza represents Bangladesh in a number of international photography organizations including, WPPI, PPA, ISPWP and PPAC

He is famous as a photography teacher among his students as well. He is a faculty member of Counter Foto and takes classes regularly at Photofee, Photo Lounge, WD School of Photography; conducted more than 50 photography workshops till date.

He has written photography columns in Kishor-Alo and ICE Today magazines. He was the one to start a two page photo mag in monthly magazine ICE Today. Lately he came up with his latest initiative named Prito Reza Production.
