Video: Savage serpent wins battle against plucky chameleon
This is the moment a vicious snake came out on top in what was a heated battle with a plucky chameleon.
In the footage, the determined chameleon can be seen standing its ground while the snake jabs at it frantically.
The boomslang snake, however, eventually bit the chameleon, injecting him with hemotoxin venom, which solidifies the blood.
Attempting to escape the grasps of the snake, the lizard hobbled away, only for the serpent wrap its mouth around his prey’s body, dissappearing off into the long green grass to indulge on its snack.
Jurgen and Beate Wolter captured the brutal battle during a day trip to the Kruger National Park, Limpopo, South Africa, in December, 2017, reports the Story Trender.
Beate said: ‘The brave warrior put up a good fight but had no real chance of winning this battle.
‘My husband and I were both rooting for the chameleon, but it obviously didn’t help the outcome of the battle.
‘This is the first time we’ve witnessed anything as spectacular as this.
‘Chameleons aren’t considered to be endangered but are highly threatened due to their slow movement and need to be on the ground to hunt for their own pray.
‘They are one of the snakes favourite meals due to how palatable it is to them.’
