Govt wants proposal for permanent solution

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said that ‘the government will hold dialogue with the BNP-led 20-party alliance if the alliance gives any permanent solution to the election procedure and stop the ongoing violent activities.’
He said ‘There can be no talks between human and demons.’
Inu made the statement on Sunday in a press briefing at the information directorate conference room.
The minister said that Khaleda Zia, civil society, intellectuals and many other people from home and abroad want dialogue but no one has given any specific proposal for a permanent solution.
Referring to a speech of Khaleda that the leaders and activists of 20-party alliance are not involved in the ongoing violent activities, Inu questioned if that was true then why Khaleda is not coming out to street protesting violent activities?
Inu said that Khaleda has not given any specific proposal for dialogue. Though she gave seven points demand before January 5, she did not wait for any discussion on those demands and started movement.
The United Nations and the United States urged the Bangladesh government to hold peaceful political programmes. On that issue, Inu said the government is not against politics; rather steps are being taken against violence and sabotage.
Responding to a question on whether the government is ready to hold talks if BNP withdraws their programme, Inu said that the government will hold dialogue but not going outside the constitution. There will be no talks on any unconstitutional issue. Dialogue will be hampered if the issue of caretaker government is brought back.
