Lakshmipur:  An Awami Jubo League leader was shot to death by miscreants at Mirikpur Bazar in sadar upazila in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased is Arifur Rahman Farhad, resident of Mirikpur village of the upazila and general secretary of the Bangakhan union unit of the ruling Awami League’s youth wing.

An unidentified man had called Farhad out of the house at night over phone, said Farhad’s father.

The miscreants shot him to death and kept his body in a saw mill at Mirikpur Bazar.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Lakshmipur sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Mohammad Nasim Miah, assistant superintendent of police, Lakshmipur circle confirmed the incident.

The killing might have occurred following a previous enmity, added the ASP.
