Dhaka: A robbery case accused reportedly died under police custody in Chawlkbazar Police Station in the capital on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir, 24.

Meanwhile, officer-in-charge of the police station Azizul Haque said Jahangir committed suicide.

He said Jahangir, a drug addict, was taken to the police station on Thursday on a two-day remand for interrogation.

‘He committed suicide by hanging himself with a blanket sometime from 6:40pm to 6:55pm when no policeman was there,’ the OC said.

When asked about the footage of CC camera installed to monitor the movement of accused, Azizul said there was no electricity at that time.
