Dhaka: Bangladesh has started the repartition process of its nationals from war-torn Yemen as an Indian ship rescued three Bangladeshis from Al Hudaydah, a city of Yemen near its capital Sana'a.

The rescued Bangladeshis are now in Djibouti, an African country, and will be brought back home by air soon.  

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, now in Oman, confirmed the development through his Facebook post on Sunday afternoon.  

Earlier, a Bangladesh team from its mission in Kuwait reached Eastern African nation Djibouti and so far communicated with some 500 Bangladesh nationals in two cities -- Aden and Sana’a in Yemen, according to an official at the Foreign Ministry here.

He said Bangladeshis will be taken to Djibouti from Aden by ship and then will be brought back home by air.

The official also said the Bangladesh nationals staying in Sana’a will be taken to Djibouti by air.

Some 1500-3000 Bangladeshis are living in Yemen and all of them are not interested to come back home, according to Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque.
