Mojaheed plea hearing adjourned till 4 May

Dhaka: Appellate division of the High Court adjourned till 4 May the hearing on an appeal filed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed against the death sentence awarded to him by International Crimes Tribunal for his crimes against humanity.
A four member High Court bench headed by Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha issued the order at about 1:00pm on Wednesday after the first day of the hearing.
The hearing started at about 9:45am.
The other members of the bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique.
Advocate SM Shahjahan takes part at the hearing on behalf of Mojaheed and the prosecution lawyer is attorney general Mahbube Alam.
Earlier on Tuesday, the hearing was deferred to Wednesday due to the city corporation election.
On 17 July 2013 International Crimes Tribunal 2 awarded death sentence to Mojaheed for his crimes against humanity during the War of Independence in 1971.
On 11 August in the same year Mojaheed appealed against the verdict.
