Derailment snaps Ctg rail link with Dhaka, Sylhet

Comilla: Rail communication of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet has been snapped after a Dhaka‑bound freight train derailed near Alishwar area in Comilla on Friday morning.
Comilla rail assistant engineer Mohammad Shahadat Hossain said a compartment of the train derailed at about 8:00am after it crossed Laksham rail station.
He said Chittagong-bound Jalalabad train from Sylhet halted at Comilla station and Dhaka-bound Mahanagar Prabhati train from Chittagong trapped at Langalcourt rail station due to the derailment.
However, at least four Dhaka-bound trains from Chittagong stuck in several stations.
A salvage train from Lakhsham went to the spot and the rail communications will resume by 12:00noon.
