PM inaugurates establishments at BSMRAU
Gazipur: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday inaugurated a number of newly-built establishments at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur.
The prime minister inaugurated the structures through unveiling their plaques on the BSMRAU campus in the morning ahead of the 16th founding anniversary of the university.
The inaugurated structures include Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, MA Wazed Miah Central Laboratory, Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Hall, Agriculture Faculty Building, Fisheries Faculty Building, Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium and Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Faculty Building.
Sheikh Hasina also unveiled the plaques of Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmed Hall, Ila Mitra Hall, Professor Yoshio Yamada Library Building, Professor L M Aijgrubar Graduate Studies Faculty Building and Krishibid Kazi M Badrudduza Outdoor Centre.
She also laid the foundation stone of Agriculture Economics and Rural Development Faculty building to be constructed on the BSMRAU campus.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Liberation War Affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haq, Krishibid Abdul Mannan, lawmaker AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and lawmaker Zahid Ahsan Russel, were also present.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Agriculture University began its journey as a full-fledged university on 22 November 1998 in recognition of proper evaluation of agricultural education by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also promote research works, and facilitate technology innovation and transfer.
The BSMRAU currently has 1300 students, 178 teachers, 87 officials and 239 employees.
So far, 30 different types of crops and 15 types of agricultural technologies have been innovated by the university.
