Narayanganj: Selina Islam, widow of former Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nazrul Islam, has challenged the charge sheet in the Seven-Murder case.

The police on 8 April 2015 submitted the charge sheet accusing 35, including Rapid Action Battalion officials.

Selina Islam on Monday submitted a petition to the Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam expressing no confidence in the charge sheet.

She claimed that family members and associates of former NCC council Nur Hossain were involved in the seven-murder, but their names were not included in the charge sheet.

Nazrul Islam, Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarkar Moniruzzaman Swapan, Tajul Islam, Liton, Jahangir Alam and Ibrahim went missing on 27 April 2014 and found dead at River Shitalakshya on 30 April and 1 May.

The family of Chandan Kumar Sarkar, however, accepted the charge sheet and sought speedy trial.

A total of 30 accused were placed before the court on Monday.

Selina Islam complained that Nur Hossain, his brothers and Siddhirganj Awami League general secretary Yasin planned the killings. This information was revealed at the confessional statement of the people who were arrested over their suspected involvement in the killings.

Selina demanded that the names should be included in the charge sheet. She also demanded inquiry into the incident of dropping the names of Nur Hossain’s brothers and friends.

Advocate Shakhawat Hossain, who stood for the plaintiff, said at least 16 names were dropped and they should be included in the trial process.

Bijoy Kumar Saha, son-in-law of Chandan Kumar Sarkar, said his family had accepted the charge sheet.

Public prosecutor Fazlur Rahman said police included the names of the persons who were found suspected in police investigation. Now there is no scope for including names of some more people.

The court fixed 8 June for the next hearing.
