Lightning kills 8

Dhaka: Eight people were killed and seven others injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in Magura, Chuadanga and Chittagong districts on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
According to reports, two siblings were killed in a lightning strike during a storm at Napura village in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong on Saturday morning.
The deceased are Mobarak Hossain, son of Nurul Amin of the area and his sister Jannatul Bakia.
Locals said a thunderbolt hit Mobarak and Jannatul while playing near their house at about 9:15 am, leaving the siblings seriously injured.
They were taken to Banshkhali Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared them dead, said Banshkhali Police officer-in-charge Swapan Majumder.
In Magura, three people were killed and five others injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in different villages of Sadar upazila on Friday evening.
Sadar Police Officer-in-charge Munshi Asaduzzaman said three people - Sindabad, 22, of Andelbaria village, Malin, 25, of Laxmipur village and Yeadul, 40, of Gopalpur village - died on the spot as thunderbolts struck on them at about 7:00pm in their respective villages.
Five people - Naim Mallik, Salma Begum, Billal, Nousher Ali and Sumon Ali were also injured during the incident, the OC said.
In Chuadanga, Shaheen, a class-V student of Bakshipur village in Alamdanga upazila, died on the spot when a thunderbolt amid rain struck on him on Friday evening.
Besides, Azzet Ali of Shishirdari village and Monwar Hossain of Railakkhipur village were killed and two other injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in the upazila at the same time.
