Barisal:  A corruption case was filed against Barisal City Corporation (BCC) mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal with the district and session judge court on Tuesday.

Two other accused in the case are: acting chief executive officer of the city corporation AKM Nurul Islam and former chief executive officer of the corporation Nikhil Chanda Das.

Rafiul Islam, proprietor of Ms Alifa Enterprise, filed the case against the accused including mayor Ahsan H Kamal before acting judge of the court Md Adib Ali who took it cognizance and asked anti-corruption commission (ACC) Barisal office to investigate the case and filed report accordingly.

According to the case, the BCC called a tender of Taka 53.20 lakh for its drainage, electric lamp project on March 16 but no tender was published in any newspaper or the corporation's s website resulting contractors did not take part in the bidding process.

The city mayor Ahsan H Kamal was accused of misappropriating the Taka 53.20 lakh.
