Dhaka: Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday asked the concerned ministry to complete recruitment process of 50,000 police constables at the quickest possible time.

The recommendation came at a meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Tipu Munshi in the chair, an official release said.

Other members of the committee – State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan, Shamsul Haque Tuku, Md Faridul Haque Khan, Abul Kalam Azad, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Fakhrul Imam and Kamrun Nahar Chowdhury – attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the committee made a recommendation to put an end to the delay in resolving the transportation problem of the police and side by side purchasing vehicles through foreign aid and grant.

It also recommended bringing speed in the works of completing Machine Readable Passport (MRP) by 24 November 2015.

The committee also asked the police force to be more sincere to perform their duties to ensure exemplary punishment of the culprits who are involved in the incident of sexual harassment during celebration of the Pahela Baishakh at Dhaka University's TSC area.
