Court upholds Fakhrul’s bail

Dhaka: The appellate division upheld the bail order issued by High Court to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three violence cases filed with Dhaka’s Paltan and Motijheel police.
A four-member bench led by Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Sunday issued the order and said the bail order will be upheld until police submitted their report in the cases.
The other members of the bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique.
The cases’ statements read police filed a violence case on 29 December 2014 and two cases on 6 January with Paltan cases. The law enforcers also filed case on 4 January with Motijheel police.
High court granted bail to Mirza Fakhrul on 18 June on three cases.
The prosecution submitted petition to the chamber court seeking stay order for the bail on 22 June.
Later, on 25 June High Court fixed 28 June for delivering order on the petition for cancelling the bail.
