Robbers kill man to loot house
Dhaka: Robbers looted valuables, including cash money and gold ornaments, after hacking a man to death in capital’s West Bhashantek area on Sunday night.
The deceased is Mansur Ahmed, in his sixties, a resident of the area.
Assistant commissioner (Pallabi Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Zakir Hossain said a gang of around seven robbers stormed into the house of Mansur at West Bhashantek during Iftar hours. Mansur was outside the house at that time.
They held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint and looted 22 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 1.50lakh in cash from the house.
They stabbed Mansur with sharp weapons as he tried to resist them upon his return, leaving him injured.
He was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 8:00pm.
