Cases filed over Ctg landslide, wall collapse, 2 held

Chittagong: Two cases have been filed in connection with the early Sunday’s landslide and wall collapse in the port city that left six people, including three siblings, dead.
Bayezid Police sub-inspector Abdul Halim filed a case over the landslide at Amin Colony while Khulshi Police sub-inspector Rasel lodged another case on early Monday regarding the wall collapse at Pora Colony in the city’s Lalkhan Bazar area.
Meanwhile, police arrested Shahabuddin and Joynal Abedin from Amin Colony on early Monday in connection with the landslide.
Earlier, at least six people, including three siblings, were killed and four others were injured in separate incidents of landslide and wall collapse, triggered by torrential rains for the last couple of days, in the port city on early Sunday.
Three siblings — Arafat Hossain Farid, believed to be 12, Umme Salma, 5, and 16-month-old Bibi Mariam, children of Mohammad Shahjahan of the area, were killed and four others were injured in the landslide at Amin Colony under Bayezid thana in the city on early Sunday.
Mariam Begum, believed to be 29, wife of Mohammad Sharif, Suraiya Akhter, believed to be 22, daughter of Mariam, and Akinur, 3, were killed in the wall collapse at Pora Colony in the city’s Lalkhan Bazar area in the early hours of Sunday.
