Bagerhat: Police in a drive rescued eighteen people, including five minor children and seven women, from a truck on Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway near Doratana bridge in Bagerhat on Friday morning while they were being trafficked to India.

Police also arrested a human trafficker in this connection.

The arrestee is Abbas Hawlader, resident of Chaltebuniya village of Morelganj upazila.

Police said, on secret information, they conducted a drive in the area and rescued 18 people from a truck.

The rescued people hail from different areas of Morelganj upazila of the district.
