Mymensingh: Police recovered the body of a trader from a canal of Charpara village under Ishwarganj Upazila in Mymensingh on Saturday morning.

The victim is Rafiqul Islam, in his fifties.

Iswarganj Police officer-in-charge Borhan Uddin said, Rafiqul Islam, a scrap trader of local Sohagi Bazar did not return home after shutting down his shop at about 11.00 pm on Friday night. Family members of Rafiqul could not trace him, said the OC.

Local people found the body of Rafiqul in a canal at Charpara this morning and informed police. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body at about 11.30am.

Rafiqul and his nephew Dulal had a quarrel since long-time over the scrap trading at the area and Dulal might have killed Rafiqul, family members said to police.

After the incident, Dulal is absconding.

Police detained Rafiqul's neighbours Mamun and Sujan for interrogation.

The body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
