Rangamati: A court in Rangamati on Monday granted police to quiz three Myanmar nationals, who were arrested for their suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group Arakan Army, for three more days in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sabrina Ali passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking 10-day police custody.

Those remanded are Ong U Yang Rakhain, Jo Su Aung Marma, 42, and Mong Su Aang Marma, 39.

The court also allowed police to interrogate the latter duo at jail gate for one day within the next five days in another case filed for intrusion into Bangladesh.

On 28 August, a team of army and police personnel conducted a joint drive in Kainda union of Rajasthali upazila and arrested Jo Su Aung Marma and Mong Su Aang Marma on suspicion of their involvement with the insurgent group of Arakan Army.

On 27 August, Ong U Yang Rakhain, also a Myanmar citizen, was arrested in Rajasthali, adjacent to Rangamati-Bandarban border, for his suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group following a gunfight between BGB and the insurgent group members in Bandarban district.

Later, they were put on a five-day remand on 30 August.

On 3 September, Ong U Yang Rakhain confessed before a local court to his link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’.
