Gazipur: A 30-kilometre tailback was created on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway from Kaliakoir upazila on Sunday, inflicting immeasurable sufferings on home-bound people ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Gorai Highway police said the tailback was created on the road from Chandra intersection in the upazila to Elenga in Tangail because of the flow of the cattle-laden trucks on the highway in the morning, leaving several thousand vehicles stranded.

Vehicles were seen moving bumper-to-bumper on the highway.

The law enforcers are trying to control the situation, added police.
