Modi, Nawaz Sharif to share same hotel
India and the US began their first strategic and commercial dialogue from Monday to set the stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third summit meeting with President Barack Obama within a year a week later.
However, whats more interesting is that both Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan have now been reportedly confirmed to stay in the same hotel.
Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif will be staying at the same hotel New York's iconic Waldorf Astoria, recently acquired by a Chinese company, says NDTV.
Modi will arrive on 23 September while his counterpart Nawaz Sharif will reach two days later on 25 September.
NDTV quoting Indian foreign ministry said that despite no bilateral meeting have been scheduled, there is a possibility of both bumping into each other.
In response to the speculations, Pakistan officials said, ‘if they bump into each other at the hotel, there will of course be Salaam-Dua’, reports NDTV.
If at all a schedule could be inserted, then it would mean that India-Pakistan could have a crucial meeting that could have an impact in the United Nations General Assembly on the clashing issues involving both the countries.
