9 held in Mymensingh over ‘IS link’

Mymensingh: Police arrested nine people, including a schoolboy, from different areas under Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh on Friday and Saturday for their suspected link to Middle East-based militant outfit Islamic State (IS).
Police said the authorities of Shohagi School caught Foysal, a class X student of Atharobari High School, while he was distributing posters with headline, ‘Call from Middle East’, and leaflets of the militant group on Friday afternoon.
Later, he was handed over to police.
After primary interrogation, Foysal admitted that he is an activist of IS, said Ishwarganj Police officer-in-charge Borhan Uddin.
Later, based on information given by Foysal, a team of Ishwarganj police arrested eight people from different areas of the upazila on Saturday.
The arrestees are Abdur Rakib, Mizanur Rahman Khan, Haider Ali, Badiul Hasan, Helal Uddin, Zunayed, Mojibar Rahman, and Masud Mia.
