Dhaka: The public holiday on this year’s Durga Puja, one of the largest religious Hindu festivals, has been shifted from 23 October to October 22 as Bijoya Dashami, end of the festival, will be celebrated on the day.

The holiday has been shifted on Monday in a regular meeting of cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Cabinet secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told the journalist after the meeting date of the holiday has been rescheduled as the day of Bijoya Dashami was fixed on 22 October according to Hindu calendar.
