Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) accuses that government is making attempts to destroy it, while the party wants to cooperate with the authorities in terminating militant activities in the country.

‘We want to help the government work against injustice for the sake of national interest,’ the party’s vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman said on Tuesday in Chittagong while addressing a discussion marking the founding anniversary of Juba Dal, the party’s youth wing.

Noman alleged that instead of accepting BNP’s offer for cooperation in fighting ‘IS and (other) militants’, the government was busy suppressing the party.

‘…it’s (government) only target is to subjugate the opposition party, to suppress us (BNP), and to throw us (BNP leaders) behind the bars through trumped-up charges,’ the BNP leader said.

He claimed that his party wanted to be a part in bringing the terrorists to justice.

Chittagong Juba Dal president Kazi Belal presided over the discussion which was attended by other leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations.
