Jhenidah: An alleged terrorist was reportedly killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Barobazar Koraitala in Kaliganj upazila on early Monday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Commanding officer of Rab-6 Major Suruj Miah said a patrol team of the elite force challenged a gang of criminals, numbering three, who were riding a motorcycle in the area at about 1:30am.

The criminals opened fire at the elite force and the law enforcers also fired back, triggering a gunfight.

Later, the elite force caught one bullet-hit member of the gang, aged about 40, while his accomplices managed to flee.

The injured was taken to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

RAB recovered a pistol from the spot.
