Dhaka: Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed so many innocent people and left many others injured.

In a message, the President also expressed deep condolence to the family members of the victims.

Abdul Hamid prayed for eternal peace of those who lost their lives.

‘I along with the people of Bangladesh strongly condemn these acts of terror and stand in solidarity with the people and the government of France,’ Sheikh Hasina said in a message to France President Francois Hollande.

The Prime Minister said terrorists are terrorists irrespective of their colour, creed or religion and must have no place in any civilised society.

‘We're together in our fight against terrorism and violent extremism,’ said the Bangladesh Prime Minister.

She expressed deepest condolences to the France President and the people of France. ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.’

A series of attacks targeting young concert-goers, soccer fans and Parisians enjoying a Friday night out at popular nightspots killed at least 120 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II. Some media reported that the death figure exceeded 150.

France President Francois Hollande condemned it as terrorism and pledged that France would stand firm against its foes.

An official at the Foreign Ministry said the Europe Wing of the Foreign Ministry here are in touch with officials in Paris to check whether any Bangladesh national is there among the victim. ‘So, far there's no such report.’
