Madaripur: A man in his forties has been lynched on suspicion of being a thief at Uttar Ramjanpur of Kalkini in Madaripur on early Sunday.

Deceased Bachchu Bepari is the son of Moslem Bepari of the village.

Bachchu was allegedly trying to steal a utility vehicle of villager Paritosh.

Police said while Bachchu was trying to steal the vehicle, Paritosh’s family started shouting sensing his presence.

Villagers rushed to the spot and beat Bachchu to death.

On information, police went to the spot and took Bachchu to Kalkini upazila health complex where the doctors declared him dead.

A case was filed in this connection.
