Tangail: An auto-rickshaw driver and a female passenger were killed and a teenage girl was injured when a train hit a battery-run auto rickshaw in which they were travelling at Hemnagar-Bholarpara under Gopalpur upazila of Tangail this noon.

Gopalpur police officer-in-Charge Zahirul Islam said Tarakandi, Jamalpur bound train from Bhuapur, Tangail rammed into a battery-run auto rickshaw at Hemnagar.

After the accident auto rickshaw driver Anwar, 40, and one unknown female passenger died on the spot. Another passenger Ria Akhter, 13 was injured.

Ria was admitted to Gopalpur Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition.
