Former JP lawmaker, 11 others sued for war crimes

Mymensingh: A case was filed against twelve people, including former Jatiya Party lawmaker Anisur Rahman Manik, in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
Ruhul Amin, son of martyred freedom fighter Yunus Ali of Trishal upazila, filed the case with Mymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate court.
Taking the case into cognisance, Abeda Sultana, Judge of Mymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate Court ordered sending the case to the International Crimes Tribunal for taking necessary action.
The other accused are Mokhlesur Rahman, Shamsul Haq Bacchu, Nurul Haq Fakir, Sultan Fakir, Manik Munshi, Ibrahim, Khaedm, Abdul Karim, Moulvi Mofazzal Hossain, and Saidur Rahman Ratan, reports UNB, a local news agency.
According to the case statement, the accused led by Anisur Rahman picked up Yunus Ali, a freedom fighter from Kakchar in Trishal upazila and took him to Ahmedabad School camp and shot him to death after torture on 14 August 1971.
