Police in a drive seized some 250 gold bars and Tk 60 lakh from a market at the city’s Riazuddin Bazar on Monday night.

Tipped off, a team of Kotwali Police Station launched a drive at Bahar Market in the area around 7:30pm and recovered three chests from two rooms on the fifth floor of the six-storey building, said additional deputy commissioner (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Babul Akhter.

Later, the police team took the chests to the police station and recovered the gold bars and the money after breaking those around 10:30pm, he said.
