Pirojpur: Two persons, in their twenties, have been sentenced to death for killing a minor girl at Mothbaria in Pirojpur on 5 October 2014.

Pirojpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on Sunday delivered the verdict.

The tribunal also fined the convicts, M Mehedi Hasan Swapan and M Masud Jamaddar, Tk one lakh each.

According to the case statement, Fatema Akther, a Class III student of a local primary school, used to live in her grandmother’s house at Bukhaitola Bandhabpara village in the upazila.

Victim’s cousin Mehedi Hasan along with his friend Masud took the girl to an abandoned place and violated her on 5 October 2014.

As she cried out for help, the two youths strangled her to death.

Father of the victim filed a case in this connection.

After examining the witnesses, judge of Pirojpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Golam Kibria handed down the verdict.
