Dhaka: A Bangladesh-born US citizen who was allegedly abducted from Mohakhali flyover in the city on Tuesday, could not be traced till Thursday afternoon.

Mofizul Islam who came to Bangladesh from the USA on 22 January was picked up by some miscreants from his car on the flyover while returning to his Baridhara residence from Motijheel, said police quoting Imran Ali, driver of the victim.

Imran registered a general diary with Kafrul Police Station in this regard on Tuesday night.

Later, Abu Hossain, a nephew of Mofizul, filed an abduction case with the same police station on Wednesday, said its officer-in-charge Shikder Md Shamim Hossain.

He said police are on a manhunt to rescue the abducted man.

Contacted, a top officer of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, a newly formed specialised unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said they are aware of the incident and working to rescue Mofizul.
