Boy tortured ‘by AL leader’ over theft in Mymensingh

Mymensingh: A 12-year-old boy was tortured allegedly by a local Awami League leader in Patghudam bus stand area of the district town on a theft charge, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Saddam, son of Parveen Akhter, a resident of Krishtopur slum of the town.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Quamrul Islam said local people of the area caught Saddam red handed while he was snatching a mobile phone set from a person on Wednesday noon.
Later they, including Safir Uddin, vice-president of 18 no ward unit of Awami League and also adviser of Krishtopur Dakhshinpara community police, beat Saddam severely.
The alleged torturers also filmed the whole torture incident.
They also handed Saddam over to police.
Later his mother got him released from police on bond at night.
The OC also said that Saddam was a professional mugger.
Earlier, he was also arrested several times in connection with snatching incidents.
