Air Canada to launch Dhaka-Toronto flights via Delhi

Dhaka: Air Canada, the flag carrier and largest airline of Canada, will soon launch Dhaka-Toronto flight via New Delhi which the government sees as the opening of a new horizon in terms of air connectivity.
The required Air Service Agreement has already been signed between Bangladesh and Canada.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoit-Pierre Laramee at the Secretariat on Monday, said a handout.
The Air Canada's Dhaka-Toronto flight will use only one transit in New Delhi. The US-bound Bangladeshi passengers will also be able to take this Air Canada service as the airline got several Toronto-New York flights every day.
They also discussed strategy of getting ‘Fifth Freedom of Air’ facilities in Europe so that Biman Bangladesh Airlines can extend its flight operation up to Frankfurt, Paris and Rome under code-sharing agreement with Air Canada.
During the meeting, the Canadian envoy said Canadian wants to establish a theme park in Bangladesh to attract more foreign tourists to visit Bangladesh centering the Tourism year 2016.
The Civil Aviation Minister welcomed the initiative.
Asia Affairs Director of Canadian High Commission in Dhaka Thomas Conard De Wolf, Project Manager of Canadian Commercial Corporation Jonathan Neill and senior officials of the ministry were present.
