Patuakhali: A Sramik League leader was found dead at Kuakata on Alipur-Chapli road in Kalapara upazila on Wednesday.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body of Mannan Gazi, a joint general secretary of Latachapli union unit Sramik League and son of Abdul Khalek of Maitbhanga village in the upazila, from the spot at about 10:00am, said police.

Mainul Haque, assistant superintendent of Patuakhali Police, said miscreants might have stabbed him to death and dumped the body there.

Police sent the body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. However, the motive behind the killing could not be known yet.
