Dhaka: The government has extended until March 31 next the deadline for the registration of online news portals.

‘The deadline has been extended following the requests of journalists,’ said a handout on Monday.

It said the registration form can be submitted to the Press Information Department (PID) until 31 March.

The previous deadline in this connection expired 29 February.

The government has initiated a registration process for online newspapers, aiming to ensure various government facilities for those and also check yellow journalism.

The registration form and the specimen of the certificate are available on the PID website.

The PID will issue the registration of the online newspaper concerned after scrutinising the documents.
