Musnhiganj: A housewife who suffered burn injuries as she set herself on fire at Hatbhogdia village in Louhajang upazila, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday night, reports UNB.

Jakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station, said Beauty Begum, 32, wife of Al Amin Khan of Hatbhogdia village and mother of four children, was charged with an illicit relationship with someone by her in-laws.

On Friday morning, an arbitration was arranged to settle the matter in presence of local IP member Mansur Ahmed where Beauty’s in-laws, including her father-in-law Jabbar Khan, mother-in-law Amena Begum and sister-in-law Kausari Begum, maligned her with so many charges.

Failing to bear the insult, Beauty set herself on fire by pouring kerosene in a bid to commit suicide during the arbitration, leaving herself critically injured with burn.

Later she was taken to Louhajang Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at about 8:00pm.

Sensing danger, the family members of her in-laws managed to flee the scene.
