Madaripur robbery victim dies at hospital

Madaripur: A businessman, who received bullet while trying to resist a group of robbers from looting jewellery shops at Miar Haat area in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur early on Monday, died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Monday afternoon.
The deceased is Swapan Kazi, in his thirties, a businessman of the area.
Two traders were shot by a group of robbers during a robbery at five shops in Kalkini upazila early on Monday.
Robbers looted gold jewelleries from three shops of the area.
The Kalkini police officer-in-charge Kripa Sindu Bala said a gang of around 6 robbers stormed into five shops, including three jewelry shops – Joy Jewelers, Moushumi Jewelers and Anchal Jewelers—in area at about 2:00am.
When local people tried to resist the robbers, they opened fire at them, which left Swapan Kazi, and Sohel injured, added the OC.
The shop owners alleged that the robbers looted 30-35 tolas of gold jewelleries from the three shops.
