Meherpur: Meherpur detective branch arrested five suspected smugglers at Karmodi village of Gangni in the district on Monday morning.

Detectives also confiscated 42 microbus tyres worth about Tk five lakh from them. Police also seized their utility vehicle used for transportation.

The suspected arrested are Babu Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Shariful Islam, Mukhlesur Rahman and Badal Sheikh.

A case was filed with the Gangni police in this connection. The arrested persons were sent to judicial custody.
