Dhaka: Qatar Ambassador to Bangladesh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Dehaimi on Monday night called on Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The hour-long meeting that began at about 8:30pm was held at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office, said her media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman and her Middle East Affairs envoy Enamul Haq Chowdhury were present at the meeting.  

However, there was no briefing from either side about the meeting.  

Sayrul, quoting Enamul, said various issues relating to the mutual interests of the two nations came up for discussion at the meeting.

The BNP chief urged the Qatar envoy to take steps for hiring workers from Bangladesh as the country is making various structures and stadiums to host the 2022 Football World Cup.
