Juba League man shot, 4 cops hurt during police arms recovery drive
Bogra: Four policemen were injured from crude bomb attack and a Juba League leader was shot during a police drive for arms recovery in Bogra, reports UNB.
It was alleged that Juba League activists hurled crude bombs at police who were on an arms-recovery drive along with the shot Juba League leader, who had been arrested on murder charge.
The incident took place at Dublagari Bazar in Bogra’s Shajhanpur on Tuesday.
Shajhanpur police officer-in-charge Alamgir Hossain said, police arrested the local Juba League leader, Sajedul Islam Liton, 30, from Demajani on Monday night in connection with the killing of a Grameen Fast Distribution official.
On Tuesday, when a police team conducted a drive at Dublagari Bazar along with Liton at about 2:00am to recover arms, Liton’s accomplices hurled several crude bombs at the law enforcers, leaving four of them injured, OC Alamgir added.
He said police were forced to shoot Liton who was trying to run away after the alleged bomb attack.
Later the bullet-hit Juba League leader was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College under police custody.
The injured policemen are sub-inspector Kalachand Ghosh, and constables Abdul Hamid, Meher Ali and Sabuj Miah of Shajhanpur police.
On February 14, police recovered the body of Grameen Fast Distribution official Mamunur Rashid Manik from the Korotoa River.
