Chittagong: A Chittagong tribunal on Wednesday sentenced six people to death for killing a teenage boy in 2011.

The condemned convicts were Mahmudul Islam, Sunil Das, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Mohammad Hossain Prakash, Nazrul Islam Lal Miah, Mohammad Selim.

According to the prosecution, Himel Das Supen, son of the late Sunil Kumer Das, had gone missing when he went to visit Bandarban on 8 May.

His mother Papia filed a general diary with Doublemooting police station on 8 May. Later, Himel’s body was recovered from a hill in Bandarbban on 14 May.

Two accused in the case-Mahmudul Islam and his younger brother Nazrul Islam—confessed to the court that Himel’s uncle Sunil Das had abducted Himel and then killed him for property. Later, police submitted a charge sheet accusing six people, including Sunil Das.

After examining the records and witnesses, the tribunal handed down the verdict.
