SC Bar polls, 34 submit nomination papers against 14 posts
Dhaka: As many as 34 candidates have submitted their nomination papers against 14 posts in the upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association polls, which is scheduled to be held on March 23, 24.
‘Thirty-four persons have submitted their nomination papers against these 14 posts. Of these, seven are secretarial posts and the rest are the members of executive committee posts,’ said Nimesh Chandra Das, superintendant of Supreme Court Bar.
The candidates will be able to withdraw their candidacy on March 13. The final list of candidates will be published on that day.
‘Of these 34, three have decided to vie for the post of president, four for vice-president, four for secretary and two for the post of treasurer,’ Das told BSS.
Senior Jurists Eusuf Hossain Humayun and Azharullah Bhuiyan are leading pro-Awami League and likeminded White Panel, while Joynul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khokon are leading pro-BNP-Jamaat Blue Panel in the election.
As many as 5,028 members of the association are scheduled to cast their ballots in the two-day polls.
