Pirojpur: Three chairman candidates boycotted the election in three union councils of Swarupkathi upazila in Pirojpur on charges of various irregularities, reports UNB.

Three candidates, BNP’s Shafiqul Islam in Sudiakathi, Jatiya Party’s Nazmul Islam in Samudoykathi and Awami League’s rebel candidate Nazrul Islam in Sarengkathi unions, announced the election boycott at a joint press briefing at about 11:00am.

The candidates pulled out of the race accusing the men of the ruling party men of obstructing their supporters in casting votes, forcing their agents out of some centres and also casting fake votes.
