Dhaka: Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has apologized to the nation for the 1-run defeat with India on Wednesday’s World Cup T20 match.

In a Facebook status posted on Thursday (24 March) morning he said, ‘Perhaps the team lost because of my failure,’ adding that he should not have played the reckless shot at such a crucial yet rather favourable time for Bangladesh team that was kicked out of the World Cup race after the defeat.

‘I know yesterday’s loss was very painful for you...but everyone in the team tries his level best...so the defeat was devastating for us too,’ Mushfiqur wrote.

The apologetic Mushfiqur went on: ‘I apologize to my countrymen. (I) hope to make all of you happy again by learning from this (defeat).’
