Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Monday deferred till 5 May for submission of statement of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against the depositions of the prosecution witnesses in Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of the Special Judge’s Court 3 set up at Bakshibazar in the old Dhaka fixed the date upon a time petition filed by defence lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia on the ground of his client’s illness.

The court deferred Khaleda Zia’s submission over the graft case twice on 7 and 17April upon time petitions.

On 8 August, 2011, ACC deputy director Harunur Rashid lodged the Zia Charitable Trust graft case against Khaleda and three others with Tejgaon Police Station on charges of embezzling Tk 31.5million of the Zia Charitable Trust.

The ACC submitted charge sheet in the case on 16 January in 2012.
