Cox’s Bazar:  Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five people for their alleged involvement in attack, murder and arms loot in a barrack of Ansar inside the Rohingya refugee camp last month in Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

RAB officials arrested the accused during a drive from Wednesday night to Thursday morning at several places of Teknaf, said Cox’s Bazar RAB Company Commander Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sharafat Ullah.

Earlier, on 12 May, miscreants killed an Ansar commander, Mohammad Ali Hossain, and looted the Ansar Camp at Noyapara in Teknaf.

Mohammad Kashem, an Ansar inspector, said a gang of armed robbers stormed the barrack at Shalbagan inside Muchni registered Rohingya camp at about 2:20am.

When Ansar member Ali Hossain tried to resist them, the robbers opened fire to him, leaving him critically injured.

Later Ali was taken to the Ansar camp hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The robbers looted 11 firearms and some explosives from the barrack, said Ansar member Alamgir Hossain.
