Bogra UC chairman dies after shooting

Bogra: A newly- elected union council chairman, who received injuries in a gun attack at Atbaria village in Gabtoli upazila 14 days back, died undergoing treatment at a private clinic in Bogra town on Saturday night.
The deceased is Tarajul Islam, of the village and the newly-elected chairman of Sonara union of the upazila, reports UNB.
Family said an unidentified young man through his window had asked Tarajul to rise from bed early in the morning on 9 July.
As Tarajul moved to leave bed, the young man opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured in the head.
He was admitted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Khawja Enayetpur Medical College Hospital and later to Square Hospital in Dhaka.
As his condition did not improve even after an operation at Square Hospital, he was brought back to a private clinic in Bogra where he was on life support and died at about 10:00pm.
The Gabtoli Police said Tarajul might have been killed over political rivalry.
Police also arrested a man after the victim’s wife filed a case.
