Barisal: Two persons have been sentenced to death for killing Muladi Press Club president Monir Rari in Barisal in 2011.

Barisal Additional District and Sessions Judge Sudipta Roy pronounced the verdict on Tuesday.

According to court officials the convicts are Alauddin Rari and his son Rasel Rari, resident of the same area.

After more than four year of deliberation, the court found the two persons guilty of chopping Monir to death over previous enmity on 22 December 2011.

After the incident, victim’s brother Jashimuddin filed a murder case with Muladi police station.

Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet with the court on March 27, 2012.

Later, the judge examining 15 witnesses and relevant evidences announced the judgment.

The judge also acquitted another accused of the case as the killing charge brought against him was not proved.
